ALLAN MITELMAN was born in Poland in 1946 and arrived in Australia in 1953. He studied at the Prahran College of Advanced Education (1965-68). Mitelman's work is represented in major public collections throughout Australia, New Zealand and America including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne and the Museum of Modern Art at Heide, Melbourne.
The exhibition, Allan Mitelman, After-images: A survey of works from 1970 -1995, was the first major survey of the artist's work in Melbourne. A survey, Works on Paper 1967-2004 was shown at the National Gallery of Victoria and the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 2004-5.
Allan Mitelman is currently living and working in Melbourne.
