Biography
Anita Laurence was born in Hobart in 1963, and grew up in Melbourne.
In 1983 she graduated in Fine Art-Painting, from the Prahran Campus of the Victoria College of the Arts.
During 1984 she became a member of a printmakers and painters studio in Middle Park, Melbourne.
She commenced printmaking with Bill Young at this studio.
Her prints were first published by Port Jackson Press in 1985.
She was selected to be a member of a group print exhibition curated by Gryphon Gallery, Melbourne University.
In 1990 she recieved a commission for an edition of lincuts from The Brotherhood of St Laurence .
The Country Education Program appointed her as co-ordinator of the Creative in the Community Program , King Valley in 1991.
The following year Laurence was the Artist in Residence at Bright P12 College, Vic.
During 1992 she was part of a three woman exhibition at Courier Gallery, Mansfield,Vic.
She was winner of the Works on Paper Prize at the Wangaratta Art Show in 1992.
In 1993 she had a one woman exhibition of her paintings and prints at Baysics, Brighton.
During 1993/4 she commenced working as a hand colourist for Michael Leunig, Geoff La Gerche and John Spooner.

1996 Mosaic Sculptures: assisted Deborah Halpern with her ceramic sculptures for commission and exhibition.
1999-2004 Casual relief teaching Art in NE Victorian regional primary and secondary schools.
2001 Mosaic paver project with Edi Upper Primary School.
1999-2004 Painting, printmaking and bookbinding in King Valley, NE Victoria with husband Bill Young.
