John Spooner - New Works 2007

Share Exhibition:

The exhibition includes 15 acrylic works on canvas, a suite of etchings and drypoints, and 32 cartoons. Spooner’s series of paintings present his reflections on the land in drought over a period of nine months. Originating during the height of the drought, they were completed as the drought was beginning to break.

The etchings and drypoints include studies of European coastal pine trees which, In Spooner’s opinion, provide an interesting metaphor for the Australian character in a time of climate change.

The 32 cartoons are drawn from his works published in The Age.
